Is THIS what people who proclaim themselves ‘pro-life’ really want?

    • Ramanusia

It’s the logical outcome of their policies. If abortion is “murder” then miscarriage is “manslaughter” and must be prosecuted, and not only in cases where one can shame the mother as a drug user.

Yes, I think so. It’s another way to keep women under control. It will be lose lose for any woman in these circumstances.
Also appalling is that this was dismissed without prejudice. This prosecutor will look for something else to use, for the sole purpose of locking this young woman up.

That’s all this has ever been about; control.

      Yes.

Thank goodness for this outcome. How horrifying.

Criminalize bad pregnancy outcomes and even more women will seek abortion. Even some antis realize this.

And what if a woman is a drug addict who is raped and does not realize she is pregnant until the third trimester? Is she guilty of child abuse? Manslaughter if stillbirth?

“Criminalize bad pregnancy outcomes and even more women will seek abortion.”

Especially if they have substance abuse problems. And this is also a great way to make sure pregnant women avoid seeking either prenatal care OR help overcoming their addiction.

This case never should have gone to court in the first place. She could have been doing bumps of coke in the delivery room, and it would have made no difference because it was born with its umbilical cord around his neck. The baby was DOA. Cocaine does not cause that. But hey, it’s Mississippi, so what can you say?
