A Discriminatory Court Ruling in the Dominican Republic Means Mass Deportations for Dominicans of Haitian Descent

Haitian-American novelist Edwidge Danticat joins Democracy Now! to discuss the 2013 court ruling that revokes citizenship for hundreds of thousands of Dominicans whose parents immigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti. Wednesday was the last day for undocumented workers to register their residence in the country or face deportation, though reports say hardly any who have applied for permits have received them.
