Update, Jul 10, 10:40 a.m. ET: The North Carolina house will be in session at 2:00 p.m. ET today and may debate HB 695. There is a rally at 1:00 p.m. ET in any case.

Update, Jul 3, 11:24 a.m. ET: The North Carolina senate approved HB 695 by a vote of 29-12. The bill has been referred to the house for concurrence. The live stream has ended, this is a recording of the proceeding.

    First they introduce a bill to ban sharia law, having no clue what that even means as evidenced by converting the bill into sharia law regarding women’s rights. This is republican logic in action. Creating the very thing you say you don’t want.

    And while they waste time on this crap children are going hungry, people are struggling in low paying jobs, mass transit is being forgotten and no jobs are created. This kind of thing is nothing but politics. Republicans are desperately trying to hold on onto one of the last voting blocks they still have. The religious right.
