On Tuesday, while the Oklahoma Legislature was voting to override a gubernatorial veto and reinstate a law requiring women to have ultrasounds before allowing them to have an abortion, I was, well, having an ultrasound.
Anti-choice legislators in Oklahoma are experts on at least two things: waste and distraction. And the state Supreme Court agrees.
In the name of informed consent, more states are hopping on the ultrasound bandwagon.
Ultrasound laws are based not in science, but in a fantasy world where women are stupid, doctors are deceptive, and misogynist lawmakers are the saviors of women.
