Now Rick Santorum isn’t “pro-life” enough to be president?
Rick and Karen Santorum seek a transmogrification of democracy in the USA in favor of a theocracy.
A headline that is surely Onion-worthy, but Romney, Santorum and Gingrich have all decided the issue is important enough to pledge to commit to stricter enforcement of obscenity laws.
While the eyes of Americans across the country watch New Hampshire, the eyes of New Hampshire women (and the men who care about them) are looking at the candidates’ positions on the issues that directly affect us: women’s health.
While Perry goes straight off to South Carolina, skipping New Hampshire in trying to scoop up votes in a friendlier (southern) state, Santorum will let his boots-on-the-ground team in South Carolina work its magic for him – just like in Iowa – while he traipses around New Hampshire. Let me explain.
The job of journalists is to investigate, ask follow-up questions, and exhibit skepticism about the claims of politicians. So why are so many journalists refusing to do their job when it comes to reproductive rights?
Before marrying Rick Santorum, Karen Santorum lived with a pro-choice Ob-Gyn 40 years her senior. Today, Santorum the candidate believes the government should be able to ban contraception and abortion, and criminalize extra-marital sex and gay sex among other things. The Senator’s fervent desire to deny the rest of us the sexual and reproductive choices that his own wife once enjoyed is breathtakingly hypocritical and cruel.
It’s hard to imagine them moving further to the right, but for Romney it may be necessary.
If he wins the presidency, Santorum is just fine with the idea of letting states outlaw birth control.
Does Rick Santorum really think he has a shot at the nomination? Because this softening in his stance screams “general election positioning” to me.
