Federal Court Dismisses Challenge to Arizona’s Race and Sex Selection Abortion Ban

A bill that would require physicians who provide abortions to obtain admitting privileges at a nearby hospital passed an Oklahoma senate committee Tuesday. The bill appears to be based on model legislation drafted by the anti-choice group Americans United for Life.

A federal court ruled civil rights groups did not have standing to challenge the 2011 law that makes it a felony for a doctor to knowingly perform an abortion based on the sex or race of the fetus.
