I fear that a possible consequence of these Live Action videos may be a chilling effect on the free and open conversation between clinic staff and patients that is such an important part of abortion care.
After an anti-choice protest at his child’s school, Todd Stave turns the tables on anti-choice bullies by standing up and fighting back.
Operation Rescue prompted pro-choice advocates from around the country to get together and realize how strong we actually are, an invaluable realization at a time of unprecedented legislative attacks on a woman’s fundamental right to control whether, when and how she might have children. What we need is to stand together more often, and in the streets.
In just one dinner at a random restaurant having greasy food and a couple of beers we scratched the surface of the potential that exists.
Operation Rescue now has its sights set on Germantown, Maryland. Germantown….say hi to your new neighbors. Speaking from experience I can say that ignoring them is not an effective strategy. The longer they can go about their work uninhibited the more successful they will become. We need to mobilize now.
From the “guerrilla activists” trying to take down Planned Parenthood to the state and federal legislators (from both parties) further restricting women’s access to abortion, 2011 has seen more assaults on women’s most fundamental rights yet – even more even under the Bush years. There are 3 anti-abortion federal bills and more than 200 state level bills restricting access to abortion (and cutting funds for birth control, cancer screenings and other basic care for women into the attacks for good measure). Many of the state-level bills pose fundamental challenges to Roe v. Wade, paving the way for Supreme Court challenges down the line. What we need is an outpouring of resistance to this assault on the humanity of women!
On this 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade we must unite to stem the violence compromising women’s right to safe, legal abortion access.
Dr. LeRoy Carhart, long-time colleague and friend of Dr. George Tiller (assassinated by an anti-abortion activist in May 2008) has remained undeterred in his life’s mission to provide women with safe, caring abortion services when they need them. YOU are needed in Germantown, MD and the DC area this coming weekend to stand up for Dr. Carhart and women’s right to abortion and reproductive control.
While extremist lawmakers attempt to ban late abortions, some women choose to terminate in the second trimester for critical reasons.
The anti-choice focus on late abortions demonstrates two major contradictions between their stated point of view and their actual point of view and reveals how intellectually bankrupt their position is.
