Celebrating the 19th Amendment: The Struggles of our Grandmothers, the Rights of Our Daughters

Every day, I’m grateful to all the women who fought so tenaciously for universal suffrage; we are the beneficiaries of their vision for a better world. I’m grateful to my great grandmother for helping me understand civic responsibility and the tenuousness of our rights if we do not remain diligent. Without our foremothers, we would not have gained the rights we enjoy today.  Yet even today, millions of women do not enjoy these same rights.

Women Are Fickle and Biased. They Don’t Deserve to Vote!

This week’s newest off-the-wall right-wing assertion comes to us courtesy of Thomas Mitchell, editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Mr. Mitchell, you see, thinks women are too dumb and too biased to vote.  His helpful suggestion? Repeal the 19th amendment. That’s right.  The one that gave us gals the right to vote.
