Rev. Dr. Daniel Kanter

First Unitarian Church

Rev. Dr. Daniel Kanter came to serve as Sabbatical Minister in 2001 and was called by the congregation to serve as Minister of First Unitarian Church in 2003. Dr. Kanter was called by the congregation to serve as Senior Minister in January 2009. Dr. Daniel Chesney Kanter received a B. A. in psychology and anthropology from the University of Vermont in 1989, a Master of Divinity from Starr King School for the Ministry in 1998, and a Doctor of Ministry from Perkins School of Theology/SMU. He served on the Board of Trustees at Starr King for nine years, from 2001, the same year he came to serve The First Unitarian Church of Dallas. Served on the board of Planned Parenthood of North Texas and Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas for the last six years. Daniel is beginning his service on the PPFA Clergy Advocacy Board at the National conference in 2014. He is a frequent contributor to the Texas Faith Blog through the Dallas Morning News.

Supporting Texas Women, as a Person of Faith

The politicians who bang the drum of "personal freedom," and in the same breath promote an increased divide between the rich and the poor, need to know that religious people will not stand by and applaud. Indeed, the fact that reproductive health-care clinics in Texas are being forced to close should concern us all.
