The American Independent

Mary Tuma is a reporter for The American Independent. Mary has worked for The Houston Chronicle, Community Impact Newspaper and interned for The Texas Observer. Tuma graduated from The University of Texas’ School of Journalism where she served as an associate editor for The Daily Texan as well as president of the Society of Professional Journalists. She is in the process of obtaining her master’s degree in Media Studies from UT. Born and raised in Houston, she now calls Austin home.
