Chicago Public Schools (CPS)
Mary Beth’s passion is working with youth. After starting her career in an educational setting she soon discovered that adolescent health was her true niche, which led her to earn her MPH in Community Health Practice from DePaul University. Mary Beth has worked for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) since September 2009. She now finds herself in Office of Student Health and Wellness whose mission is to reduce health related barriers so students can be academically successful and have a healthier future. Mary Beth is a Student Health Specialist, leading the way to provide sexual health education and programing to all students in CPS through curriculum implementation, teacher professional development and collaborative partnerships for direct service. Mary Beth is a CDC grant recipient for developing social media strategies to provide education outside of the classroom and has received funding for HIV Prevention. She is also a National Coalition of STD Directors grant recipient to support a Peer Health Education Program.
Reducing STD rates takes education. Our youth have questions. We need to answer them.
