Laura Barcella is a San Francisco-based freelance writer, editor, and activist. She has been a passionate feminist since her first job working as the Women's Issues editor at her college newspaper (the Massachusetts Daily Collegian). Her work has appeared in nearly 40 publications, including Salon, the Village Voice, Time Out New York, MsMagazine.com, the Chicago Sun-Times and the book Bitchfest: Ten Years of Cultural Criticism From the Pages of Bitch Magazine. In addition to writing and editing, Laura is a California-certified domestic violence counselor, and she works as a volunteer on WOMAN Inc.'s Bay Area D.V. crisis line.
