Julia is co-chair of the Chicago Abortion Fund. In 2010, she helped found the Chicago Female Condom Campaign to promote access to the only receptive partner-initiated tool that protects against both unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. By day Julia works as the senior project manager at Firefly Partners, focusing on website design and online marketing for small and mid-size nonprofit organizations. Previously, Julia worked in online communications and public policy at the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health, a sexual health advocacy organization. She has experience working in field organizing at Population Connection, health policy at the National Organization for Women, and development at the Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative. Julia holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and urban studies from Northwestern University, where she wrote her senior honors thesis on the use of the emergency contraceptive pill as a preventive health behavior among young adults.
