I am an Assoc. Professor of Women's Studies and English in central Illinois. Until 2008, I worked as a patient advocate in an independent abortion clinic in Ohio. I'm also on the boards of the Abortion Conversation Project and NARAL and a member of the Abortion Care Network. I research abortion and language, literature, and politics.

Abortions chosen because of the sex of the fetus are a symptom — not a cause — of a sexist society. A reproductive justice analysis of that sexism gives insight into why hidden camera “stings” have nothing to do with saving girls.
