A Des Moines anti-abortion activist has had repeated contact with the man accused of killing Kansas doctor George Tiller in May, and is even working on a legal strategy for him that he believes will result in acquittal.
Same-sex marriage will not be an issue in next year’s legislative session, said the highest-ranking Democrats from both chambers of the Iowa legislature.
The Iowa Attorney General says that county recorders do not have the authority to refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
In his first press conference since the Iowa Supreme Court voided the state’s ban on same-sex marriage, Gov. Chet Culver stated voters will ultimately decide the issue.
