Erin Wilkins lives in Minneapolis where she works as a comprehensive sex educator in the community for the Family Tree Clinic. She has worked as a pregnancy options counselor at a busy abortion clinic, as well as an apprentice midwife with homebirth midwives in Portland, Oregon. She completed her midwifery education at Birthingway College of Midwifery and is passionate about advocating for comprehensive birth options for all. Erin holds a Master's Degree in Gender/Cultural Studies from Simmons College and is especially committed to working with youth and queer & trans people.
Pregnancies, both planned and unplanned, happen to trans folks, too. It is imperative for reproductive health care providers to seek appropriate education and training in order to be able to provide comprehensive care to these patients.
The same oppressive cultural mechanisms that restrict women’s abilities to make decisions about when to have children also affect their decisions regarding where, how, and with whom to birth those children.
