Dr. William Harrison

Fayetteville Women's Clinic

William F Harrison, MD, FACOG has been in practice in Fayetteville, AR since 1972. AR’s abortion laws were liberalized in 1969, and in 1974 he joined his OB/GYN and other medical colleagues in Fayetteville in providing abortion services. By 1983 there were 13 physicians in NW Arkansas who were providing abortion care. In November of that year, he suddenly became the only physician willing to openly stand up to the anti-abortion religious zealots who were threatening all of the providers in his state.

Dr. Harrison established the Fayetteville Women’s Clinic in 1979, with his colleague Dr. Clifford Councille. Dr. Harrison has practiced continuously at the clinic since then. In addition to caring for the gynecological needs of thousands of girls and women since he came to Fayetteville in 1972, Dr. Harrison has provided most of the elective abortions in NW Arkansas since 1984.
