Claire Cooper is a Legislative Assistant at the Center for Reproductive Rights, where she supports the State Program and the U.S. Legal Program's litigation docket. Before joining the Center, Claire worked at the Maine affiliate of the ACLU where she was involved in various advocacy campaigns and handled legal intake for the organization. She attended Bowdoin College where she majored in Government & Legal Studies and Religion. At Bowdoin, she held leadership positions with the College Democrats and was a member of V-Day. She spent a semester abroad at Central European University in Budapest where she studied international law and human rights.
Today we have a welcomed opportunity to celebrate the proactive leadership that several municipal bodies across the country are taking in support of women’s access to reproductive health care services.
While Secretary Sebelius’ decision to intervene and block Plan B One-Step’s OTC status was shocking on several fronts, those of us at the Center for Reproductive Rights saw it as “déjà vu all over again.”
