Christine Soyong Harley, Policy and Programs Director at the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum. Chris joined NAPAWF in July 2010 to head its DC office and policy and programs efforts. Chris started her social justice career as a community organizer, advocating for labor, civil, and immigrant rights on behalf of disenfranchised and under-represented communities. Prior to joining NAPAWF, she was a Project Manager for the Assistant Secretary of Programs, at the Illinois Department of Human Services. In this role, she was responsible for many of DHS' immigrant integration efforts. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Oberlin College and a Masters from the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy. She has been named a 2009 Future Leader by the Overseas Korea Foundation.
As immigration debates have increasingly cast immigrant women as “unfit” and “undesirable”, the reproductive rights and ability for immigrant women to make healthy decisions for themselves and their families has been increasingly undermined.
