Beverly McPhail is a long time feminist and writer and academic. She has a PhD in Social Work and runs the Women's Resource Center at the University of Houston. She has had numerous op-ed pieces published in the Houston Chronicle and the now defunct Houston Post. She was recently credited in a Salon article by Irin Carmon for being the first published piece to make the claim that these new mandatory sonogram laws constitute rape by the state.
