This morning women headed to Montgomery, Alabama to protest the forced ultrasound bill making it’s way through the statehouse. Although the bill’s sponsor, Senator Clay Scofield is reportedly backing off the bill that would require trans-vaginal ultrasound prior to a legal abortion, a rally against SB12 is on for today.

Unable to say the word “vaginal,” one of the authors of the forced trans-vaginal ultrasound bill in Alabama says he will pull it. But the women of Alabama won’t stand for replacing it with forced abdominal ultrasounds or any other form of coercion.

According to Virginia Delegate David Englin doctors will be turned into criminals and women victims of a sex crime under the “object sexual penetration” law if Governor Bob McDonnell signs the state sanctioned rape bill. Mr. Englin plans to bring his case to the floor next week when the house debates the senate version of the bill.
Virginia Governor McDonnell earlier signaled his intent to sign one of the most despicable laws in the country forcing women to undergo an vaginal ultrasound to obtain an abortion, or in other words, a state sanctioned rape bill. But now it seems the Governor is not so eager to go on the record with his previously held position.
Let’s start calling these bills what they are: state-sanctioned rape. There is no other way around it.
