Gosnell Found Guilty on Three First-Degree Murder Charges

Just hours after the jury in the Kermit Gosnell case signaled it was deadlocked on two counts, it returned with a verdict, finding Gosnell guilty on three of four counts of first-degree murder. He was also found guilty on involuntary manslaughter charges involving the death of a female patient.

The verdict closes the first phase of a two-month trial that anti-choice activists quickly turned political, first attacking the media, then trying to make Gosnell an indictment on all abortion providers.

“Justice was served to Kermit Gosnell today and he will pay the price for the atrocities he committed,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, in a statement. “We hope that the lessons of the trial do not fade with the verdict. Anti-choice politicians, and their unrelenting efforts to deny women access to safe and legal abortion care, will only drive more women to back-alley butchers like Kermit Gosnell.”

The Gosnell case is an important reminder of the fact-finding function of our courts. Through the grand-jury report and trial testimony, the picture that emerged was of a man willing to prey on desperate patients and a system willing to at best drag its feet and at worst turn a blind eye because the victims were often poor women of color. This is a point made by Hogue:

From the lack of funding available for low-income women to access abortion services, to the sharp decline of reputable providers in Pennsylvania, to the gross negligence of authorities to enforce the law after complaints were filed against Gosnell, each aspect of this case must be a teachable moment for lawmakers: until we reject the politicization of women’s medical care and leave these decisions where they belong—between a woman and her family and her doctor—women will never be safe. The horrifying story of Kermit Gosnell is a peek into the world before Roe v. Wade made legal a woman’s right to make her own choices.

With the conviction on multiple first-degree murder charges, Gosnell could face the death penalty. The jury will begin to hear testimony on Tuesday to determine whether or not Gonsell will go to death row.

Too bad priests and fetal idolators like adulterous wife-dumper Randall Terry can’t also be charged with murder for every woman they force to die of predictably dangerous pregnancies!

    “Until

decisions where they belong – between a woman and her family and her

    Evil

Right, the fewer who know about the death of the child, the better…. that’s how Gosnell went on so long, that was
the EXACT motto practiced by Gosnell and his staff and other
abortionists where we are now hearing of the infections, brutality, and
deaths — so more of the same horrific acts now being exposed, nothing
should change…. I guess that’s how Planned Parenthood is now being
accused of covering up and not reporting rape/ incest cases.. we
understand your logic now. What a service to women!

HERE’S SOME TRUTH for HOGUE that no one can deny – ***Share***

“Many Americans are not aware that today the US stands with only 3
other countries for having the most radical abortion policies in the
WORLD– China, North Korea, and Canada” Dr. Charmaine Yoest – President
& CEO, Americans United for Life
    Kirsten Powers – “Even liberal
Europe gets this. In France, Germany, Italy, and Norway, abortion is
illegal after 12 weeks. In addition to the life-of-mother exception,
they provide narrow health exceptions that require approval from
multiple doctors or in some cases going before a board. In the U.S., if
you suggest such stringent regulation and oversight of later-term
abortions, you are tarred within seconds by the abortion rights movement
as a misogynist who doesn’t “trust women.”

Planned Parenthood is not being accused of covering up rape/incest–if you’re talking about Liar Rose and her fake sting with the imaginary and extremely unconvincing 13 year old girl (she is a very bad actress), you don’t really have a leg to stand on. And I hope you’re not suggesting that a pregnant rape/incest victim should be forced to stay pregnant as ‘evidence’. Because that is a truly sick idea. But beyond copying and pasting this same stock statement everywhere, do you actually have anything original to say?

      • BB

no copying an pasting here…. hope the following is catchy and original enough for you… the videos are real – that has been confirmed. do you think they somehow forced or coerced abortionists to say such things? conspiracy theory denied. I did not say victims of rape or incest should be forced to remain pregnant as ‘evidence’. I was trying to say that victims deserve better than receiving what is proposed as a ‘quick fix’ to something that is traumatic on many more levels in addition to a possible pregnancy is and how there has been proof that abortion clinics including PP are failing to report instances of rape and incest to authorities after gathering that information during their services. abortion ends a human life, not sure how anyone can argue that. I do not have to say something ‘original’ or catchy to be truthful. PP is the largest abortion provider in our country. They end the lives of 1,000s of unborn babies every day. It is one of their largest services provided. I think PP is failing as a true service to women if the best they can offer is the death of their unborn child. The majority of the Lila Rose videos also focus on late term abortions — ‘medical procedures’ where the baby can feel pain, is tortured and dismembered limb by limb.. yes, I am against late term abortions and partial birth abortions — which are not that rare. Original or attention-grabbing enough for you yet?… Please watch a video or look up one of the many testimonies from several well established medical professionals and abortionists recently reported during the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. The US is only among three other countries in the world with such radical abortion policies including: China, North Korea, and Canada. I believe that is heart breaking… I guess if don’t know what one can believe in if you have no value for life.

        • Jennifer Starr

The videos feature contrived and hypothetical situations and you have no proof of such situations having actually occurred. And I really doubt they actually believed Lila Rose’s story–for someone who claims to want to be an actress she really isn’t good at it. And while you deny that you favor forcing rape and incest victims to remain pregnant because it is evidence, it is still quite obvious that you favor forcing them to remain pregnant even if they don’t wish to, so you still don’t get any points for me on that. You’d probably even deny them the Plan B which can prevent a rape pregnancy before it’s even conceived.

        • Jennifer Starr

And as for late-term procedures, they actually are quite rare–generally wanted pregnancies gone terribly wrong or to save the life and health of the mother. The vast majority of abortions occur in the first trimester, because when you don’t want to be pregnant, you tend to want to get it done as early as you can.
