I’m sorry for what you went through, Lindsay. Your experience is exactly what’s wrong with forced vaginal ultrasounds. It’s clear that it’s designed to make women feel humiliated and exploited. Anti-choicers think this is an acceptable approach to changing women’s minds? No, it’s unconscionable and unacceptable, and we can’t allow them to force us back to the bad old days of unsafe and clandestine abortion.

Having had to undergo painful and invasive transvaginal ultrasounds when I had uterine cancer, I can only conclude that efforts to force them on women seeking abortions are an attempt to humiliate and hurt those women in order to put them in a vulnerable emotional state where they can be badgered into carrying unwanted fetuses to term. It’s sick and, as Ella asserted, unconscionable to make a woman experience what amounts to rape by blunt object.
