The state of Louisiana is already forcing women who are undergoing pregnancy termination to first look at an ultrasound of the embryo or fetus.  But that must not be effective enough at deterring abortions.  So now, they want to make them listen to a heartbeat, too.

Via WWL in Lousiana:

A Senate committee is scheduled today to take up a bill to require women to listen to their unborn baby’s heartbeat before they may have an abortion.

Louisiana Family Forum president Gene Mills says he’ll testify today for the measure. He says it provides women more information upon which to make their decision.

Exactly what sort of “information” does listening to a heartbeat provide?  Well, none.  But it does provide another instrument with which to shame women.
