Ten-Year-Old Gives Birth at 31 Weeks Due To Medical Complications

A young girl in Mexico gave birth via c-section almost two months early a few weeks after being admitted to the hospital for life threatening pregnancy complications.  She is not quite 11 years old.

Via BNO News:

A 10-year-old girl has given birth to a baby boy in east-central Mexico after a pregnancy of nearly eight months, officials confirmed on Thursday. She was unable to have an abortion due to state laws.

The young girl, who is almost 11, is from the San Francisco Totimehuacan community near the city of Puebla, the capital of the state which carries the same name. She had previously sought medical attention on October 22 because she had been experiencing complications which were threatening her health.

According to reports, the child gave birth at the Women’s Hospital in the city of Puebla after a pregnancy of 31 weeks. The baby boy weighed about 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) at the time of his birth and was taken to the hospital’s intensive care unit where he is recovering from pneumonia.

Although both the girl and the infant are likely to survive, it’s a sobering reminder of what can happen when a young child is forced through a dangerous pregnancy because of anti-abortion laws.

Who’s in jail for getting her pregnant?

The sad thing is I have heard this happening before and seems that doesn’t matter in Mexico their laws are so different than the law in the USA.

  • carolrhill814

How could the person who did this horrible get away with this it is beyond my understanding but it seems this has happens all of the time because this is not the first time I have heard this happening.

I guess Mexico is a third world country because the education of what parents aren’t not doing to protect their children or they just don’t care.

There should be somebody in jail for this. This girl might have died.  The fact that this baby was forced to have a baby and undergo a c-section is just unconscionable.

It’s not alway a matter of not caring or lack of education.  Even children of parents who try their best, and do everything “right” get hurt sometimes.  Yes, sometimes parents don’t care enough, or do stupid things that put their kids at risk, but in general it’s not the parents fault any more than it’s the fault of the child (unless it’s a parent involved obviously) it’s the fault of the child raping asshole.

The scary thing is that if we hadn’t managed to defeat ‘personhood’ in Mississippi we could be reading about a case like this happenng here in the USA—a child being forced to gestate against her will because rabid pro-lifers want to protect her fetus–even at the expense of her childhood and her own life.
