Wisconsin GOP Planning New Assault On Reproductive Rights

The Republicans in the state are putting together their next anti-choice legislative agenda.

Now that the Wisconsin GOP knows that it will be holding onto its majority in the legislature, it appears that the party is ready to move ahead on its assault to reproductive choice.

Via the Green Bay Press Gazette:

[S]tate Rep. Michelle Litjens, R-Oshkosh, plans to soon introduce a bill that could quickly grow divisive.

Litjens said she hopes legislation she and state Sen. Mary Lazich, R-New Berlin, are sponsoring, which would require any woman seeking an abortion to undergo an ultrasound before having the procedure and tighten regulations for clinics that perform abortions, will be voted on this fall.

“This is about protecting women,” she said. “This is not about abortion.”

Of course, there’s little else to be expected from a legislature under the leadership of a group that is adamantly against even using birth control.
