Senator Proposes National Parental Notification Law

Boozman claims without it, teens will sneak across state lines for an abortion.

Despite Republicans declaring that abortion laws should be set by the state, a new push at the federal level is on the way to create a national law when it comes to parental notification for teen abortions.

Via Feminist Daily News:

On Monday, Senator John Boozman (R-AR) introduced a bill that would require that the parents of minors seeking abortion services be notified by certified mail and that doctors wait at least four days before performing an abortion. Doctors who do not abide by the requirement could be fined up to $1 million and have to serve up to 10 years in prison.

Just so we’re clear, anti-choice activists think every state should get to set their own laws about restricting abortions, but if those laws aren’t restrictive enough, a federal law should be in place instead.
