The Reason The Pill Doesn’t Kill You — Thanks, Barbara Seaman!

Despite anti-choice activists endless assertions to the contrary, today’s birth control pills are not going to give you breast cancer.  And one of the reasons for that is the changes advocated by activist and author Barbara Seaman, a “pioneer” in the then non-existent world of feminist health.

On The Issues is paying tribute to the woman who claims “I didn’t start out to be a muckraker.”  She may not have started out that way, but her fearless and persistent desire to create better standards for women being informed and taking charge of their own health turned her into a icon for personal empowerment.

Be sure to check out all ten of the tributes to Seaman, from authors ranging from Theresa Noll to Barbara Erhenreich.
