Donuts on Demand!

A pro-choice, pro-prevention President who doesn’t demonize women who have abortions…AND free donuts on inauguration day…it’s all just too much for the American Life League.  Apparently, wires in the ALL office short-circuited when the anti-choice group heard that Krispy Kreme would be giving away free donuts on Inauguration Day, heralded by the following press release:

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) is honoring American’s sense
of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free
doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By
doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an
oath to tasty goodies — just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet
‘free’ can be.

Seeing the words "freedom" "of" and "choice" one next to the other, ALL made the only conclusion they could have made: those are pro-abortion donuts Krispy Kreme plans to give away!

ALL issued a press release of its own:

KRISPY KREME CELEBRATES OBAMA WITH PRO-ABORTION DOUGHNUTS
Washington, DC (15 January 2009)

The following is a statement from American Life League president Judie Brown:

"The
next time you stare down a conveyor belt of slow-moving, hot, sugary
glazed donuts at your local Krispy Kreme, you just might be supporting
President-elect Barack Obama’s radical support for abortion on demand –
including his sweeping promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act as
soon as he steps in the Oval Office, Jan. 20.
[…]

The unfortunate reality of a post Roe v. Wade
America is that ‘choice’ is synonymous with abortion access, and
celebration of ‘freedom of choice’ is a tacit endorsement of abortion
rights on demand.

"President-elect Barack Obama promises to be the most
virulently pro-abortion president in history. Millions more children
will be endangered by his radical abortion agenda.

"Celebrating his inauguration with ‘Freedom of Choice’
doughnuts – only two days before the anniversary of the Supreme Court
decision to decriminalize abortion – is not only extremely tacky, it’s
disrespectful and insensitive and makes a mockery of a national
tragedy.

This idiocy is reminiscent of the late unlamented Jerry Foulwell saying that Tinky Winky of the Teletubbies was promoting some imaginary “gay agenda” because he/it was purple and carried a purse.

  • alexm

My favourite thing about ALL’s reaction to Obama’s presidency is that his pro-choice policies are going to seriously discredit that whole Klanned Parenthood BS the anti choice has been peddling for years.

  • invalid-0

I don’t eat donuts. I would never have an abortion. However, I cannot stand in the way of anyone else’s decision to have an abortion or a donut.

Pro-Choice… Choosing What? What are the Choices? 1) To have the Baby already created and in it’s phase of natural life through to natural death.
!A) Keep the BABY with mom
!B) Keep the BABY with mom and dad married
!C) Keep the BABY with mom and dad unmarried
1D) Keep the BABY with her family or his family

    2) Adopt the baby out in an open or closed ADOPTION

    3) Surgically Snuff the babies life while alive in the mother’s womb.

    Pro-Choice!

Pro-Life: Choose all the above EXCEPT “SNUFF-SURGERY”
Pro-Life: give factual information as the gestational biological facts of the human in womb.
Pro-Life: Give full resource information: welfare, legal, adoption, housing, clothing, food, college support, daycare, etc…. spiritual, financial, emotional, physical, societal support.

Pro-Life is not anti-choice, it is just a humanitarian choice that fully considers the human that is being snuffed surgically for no reason other than it is alive, and the mom and others want to salvage ego for Honor KIlling. It is the most demoralizing thing a woman can do. It NEVER empowers her. Most women I talk to say they think about their abortion at least once a day. YUCK!

“Pro-Life is not anti-choice, it is just a humanitarian choice […]”

But that comma should be a semicolon.

    • pcwhite

I’ve seen your tiresome argument enough times.  You’re being very selective in your representation of the choices pro-choice advocates wish to provide.  Your choice number 3, aside from being so hyper-emotional as to be inane, is missing a few things.

revised choice #3: terminate the pregnancy and free yourself from the physical, emotional, and financial danger a pregnancy poses to you.

      There…I fixed it for you.

If you deny this choice, you’re putting women’s health, lives, and lifelong careers at stake for the sake of an unconscious lump of human tissue.  Wtf.  How is this humanitarian?  How far do you go, anyway?  Is a zygote (fertilized egg) sufficiently human in your eyes to be granted legal protection?  If not, then what reasons do you give for not extending this ridiculous level of protection to it?

(fyi, an embryo does not become a BABY no matter how many times you choose to put this in caps.  You’re seriously undermining your own argument with that kind of emotive crap.)

I would choose one of the glazed ones with sprinkles.

The proverbial donut in one’s oven is nobody’s business.

Was that press release a hoax? Or parody? It’s extremely funny.

No, it’s for real. I couldn’t believe the story either when I first saw it blogged, especially because all the references I found linked back to that one story on the Miami New Times blog.

But no – just go to the website of the ALL itself, and it’s right there, top of the Media Releases section, at this URL: http://www.all.org/article.php?id=11754

    @ anonymous 4:33 a.m.

Sorry, but I had an abortion when I was in college, and I never think about it. Women who go against deeply-held moral beliefs in order to have an abortion may be haunted by their actions, but not all women are carrying that baggage. Given that you’re so obviously anti-abortion, the sample of women who you talk to about abortion is not going to contain a woman such as myself. We’re everywhere, and we’re not haunted by what we did; in fact, we’re grateful that safe, legal abortion was available to us — and no amount of pro-life scare-mongering and browbeating is going to change our minds.

I’m pro-life, but I take ALL just about as seriously as people (even animal rights supporters) take PETA seriously.

    TINSTAFL, but free donuts? MMMMmmm…

Denying a Guilt is a Greater Guilt.
No one can make you feel shame, remorse, or “I am sorry” for killing your own kid, all right? Either you do or you don’t. You are your soul, your aura, your Karma. Most defend that which corrupts or corrupted them. (Kinda like the lesbian that slants “male” behavior after being sexually abused by a male).
So, YOU don’t have an ounce of conscience about snuffing your child’s life, BUT I am hear to tell you: YOUR CHILD IS LOVED BY ME AND MILLIONS OF OTHERS MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER UNDERSTAND, ACCEPT, OR EXPERIENCE IN A LIFETIME. In spite of your cold stone non-humanitarianism, your baby is loved.
Take that to your fluffy pillow tonight. I will even name your baby for you right now, all right? It’s name is Dana. All those that love Dana in spite of it’s mother’s estrangement, give a xxo.

    • invalid-0

I’ve got an excellent suggestion for you.

I suggest you take that predjudiced, ignorant and vile nonsense you’re spewing and gather it all together. Then go find a fire, and slowly die in it.

I wonder if Krispy Kreme will extend this promotion to Canada :)

and I’m with the sprinkles dude(tte).  The sprinkles are sinfully delicious.

(I wonder if American Life League will panic about the sprinkles being rainbow-coloured.  You see, the sodomites are in on it too…)

Okay, a) that doesn’t even make sense (and I even tried it backwards) and b) dude, you’ve posted about your imaginary friend three times…. they’re all still here.  You’ve not been censored (although, repetitive copy&pasting of posts should be considered SPAM)  Take your meds and step away from the computer… perhaps your Dana could post in your absence.

This comment made my day…thank you :]

While dreaming of sprinkles for free, I thought I’d peek back at this thread. I see that it has deteriorated.

The freedom that I believe Krispy Kreme spoke of has to do with health care reform. A cervix looks like a little donut. Over the next four years (and beyond!), I hope more women will have greater access to important reproductive health services and well-woman care, including yearly Pap smears to detect cancerous cells (bad sprinkles) on their little donuts.

If you just read between the lines, you can see that Krispy Kream cares about my special donut– my cervix. Thank you.

  • truth

Come one, come all… Sacrifice your babies at the altar of Obama and get a FREE DONUT! Look… If your going to sell your soul for all eternity, shouldn’t you ask for more than a Krispy Kreme Donut in exchange?

  • pcwhite

No, I think a donut is fair.  I love getting something for nothing.

  • truth

By the way, did you notice the book that the President and Vice President take the oath on and swear allegiance to? You should probably read it, follow it and at least understand what you are saying when you deny your soul for all eternity. "…Gnashing of teeth…" doesn’t sound very fun to me, but that is what sugar will do if eaten without regard to the consequences, right?

  • pcwhite

Oh, I think you misunderstood my point.  At least I’ll be getting sugary sweetness for my nothing rather than a lifetime of self-deprivation.

  • http://www.msdosbefehle.de invalid-0

Abortions are not! It’s a personal choise, but any woman has so much possibilities instead of killing an innocent baby.

    • pcwhite

any woman has so much possibilities instead of killing an innocent baby.

I agree. Abortion is one of them.

  • truth

Why do you want to kill other people – children? You do realize how sick you sound, right?

  • pcwhite

well, it’s rather difficult for a person to kill children when he’s made completely of straw.

  • invalid-0

You are an insensitive SOB. Pull your head out of your backside and realise that life is not your way or the highway. A woman should have every right to an abortion. If you think abortion is wrong then don’t have one and STFU.

  • invalid-0

It’s a concept that many of these anti-choice zombies can’t comprehend: don’t like abortion, then don’t have one.

It’s childish really, that they throw tantrums when people make personal choices that they don’t like.Especially when said choice doesn’t involve or hurt them in any way. I used to volunteer at a daycare center, and have seen kids having full-blown hissy fits just because another kid is coloring with a color that they don’t like. That is what all these anti-choice rantings remind me of.

Of course, they claim they’re just “protecting the unborn babies”. Thats nice and all, but I wonder if their energy is misplaced. Would the anonymous poster above care about or love ‘Dana’ is he/she wasn’t aborted? Would the poster help pay for all of ‘Dana’s’ needs? I doubt it.

I think that if the anti-choicers really did care about children, they would focus on children who have already been born. There are many things they could do, like donate things that children need ( clothes, school suplies, food, ect) to children’s charities. They could do volunteer work at children’s centers, schools, and hospitals. They could also take foster children into their homes, or even adopt unwanted (or orphaned) children, giving them a loving home.

And just to be clear: I don’t like abortion either, and would only choose it if my life were in danger. But it’s my belief that abortion is a personal choice, and that no one has the right to take that away. I have no problem with the women I know who’ve had abortions, I don’t judge them and I don’t think they’re horrible people. They all have their own reasons for making that choice and I respect that.

Hey Anonymous “Dana”, FSTDT has gotten hold of that little gem you posted.

Oh, Truth? If I were you,, I’d stop posting patronising BS as if it is gospel. You’ll end up over there as laughing stock too.
